Welcome

     Hello, My name is Justin. I will be speaking about the objective of the Aice Media Studies course as well as the components and criteria. For one, this is an Aice Cambridge course which means it comes from England and is a highly registered class for students. The main objectives of Media Studies are:
- to better understand the media with engagements on media products and concepts and to practice certain skills.
- Obtain more information about technology
- learn more about the effect of technology on one's everyday life
- understand media concepts using technology
- plan media products using the media
     There are many components to this course, the first component is the "Foundation Portfolio."
in this component, each candidate will create and submit a blog. We will be working in groups but will submit individual assignments. For component 2 which is: "Key Media Concepts", there are two sections to it. Section A is Textual analysis and representation. Section B is Institutions and audiences. In section A, candidates will take an analysis of a moving object and determine the technical codes. In section B candidates select a specific media industry and have a choice of: film, music, print, radio, or video games. Moving onto the next component, component 3 "Advanced Portfolio" Candidates chose from these set briefs:  music promotion package, film promotion package, documentary package, short film package. Component 4 is the "critical perspectives." it is a written component that also has two sections. Section A being: evaluation of production skills development and section B: contemporary media issues.
